I always love shooting at this place because it always looks different! You never know what the lighting will be doing but it ALWAYS looks incredible. Who’s next?
Union Pacific's antique steam engine Big Boy #4014 came through Vegas and stay overnight to refuel at a train station near Fremont Street. The public was invited to see the train chugging in for the stop and help Union Pacific celebrate 150 years of the transcontinental railroad.
Lowell High School’s Class of 1969 recently celebrated their 50 year reunion in Southern CA.
The crowd came ready to let loose and the attendees made it easy for me to show how much fun everyone was having. Organizer Nick and his committee hired an incredible Beatles cover band who kept the night moving right along. Conversation flowed like the champagne: easily! Everyone looked like they were having a blast. I’m here to report that the people who lived through Bryan Adam’s “Summer of ‘69” still know how to live it up big! Judi and Andi celebrated a birthday with a photo shoot on the strip! I always love shooting at the Venetian, the lighting is different every time and so the textures are forever changing. You can get a lot of options of backgrounds and design elements in one location!
I love this picture! I shot a birthday earlier in the month and captured this moment on camera. I love the look on the guy's face and the motion blur of the candy as it starts to fly out. Love it!
Michele and Harry were in town celebrating their anniversary and wanted to capture some photos on the Strip. Michele wanted an early start so we met up at 7:30 AM at the New York, New York Hotel and Casino. I discovered that I love shooting on the Strip that early!
The rising sun gave us some beautifully diffuse light as the sun rays reflected off surfaces and dramatic shadows as it came in through the trees. The best part is that we pretty much had all access to any backdrop in the area, including the Park walkway to the T-Mobile Arena. Lots of fun little areas and textures to play with in the area. I loved the purple flowers near the California Pizza Kitchen! You two were awesome models! Denise and Tommy celebrated their 20th anniversary in Vegas and hired me to shoot a quick, last minute photo shoot on the Strip. We kept moving quick, shooting all along the way. We were able to squeeze about 8-10 different backdrops into a span of about 30 minutes! Thanks for the awesome shoot, you two were fun!
Timing is everything.
This young dad was throwing his kid gently up in the air, right in front of Lake Como at the Bellagio. The kid was looking around everywhere but my camera, as you can imagine. On the third throw, for whatever reason, the baby looked over at me and in that split second I pushed the shutter button: *SNAP* Picture perfection! Whatever came before and whatever comes after doesn’t matter when it comes to the world of photography. The only thing that matters is the present, what is happening right then at that exact moment, that moment when all the ducks are in a row and you snap that perfect pic. That quest for perfection and the perfect picture is why I love photography! For example, look at the other versions of this picture below... they both work, but they are both missing that magical connection that exists in the other version. That little spark is what makes the other one special. Taking pictures is like fishing. Many of the fish you catch are fine, they’ll get the job done, but every so often, when everything aligns, you finally catch the big one, the one that didn’t get away. To me, the picture above is one of those Big Fish. Who’s ready to go fishing with me? I took this shot at the top of the escalators on the northwest corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo. The key to the shot is my 14mm wide angle lens that really opens up the photo to include almost 180° Of the view. Of course we took many different versions of this photo but I love the one that shows the full body. The way the groom holds his new wife flatters her figure and connects the both of them.
Who’s ready for the next photo shoot? Every so often it’s important to take a look at the world from somebody else’s perspective.
I saw this shot when someone set Nolan down for a moment. I’m always looking for a natural frame to spotlight my subject and I couldn’t resist framing Nolan among family member legs. I love this shot! Ashley just graduated from high school and celebrated with friends and family at her home last week. During the festivities, Ashley, her boyfriend, and I snuck away to snap a few photos at a nearby park. They came out great!
Her friends and family are all so proud of her accomplishments and her plans for what’s next: Ashley will study nursing in the fall. Congrats, Ashley! Since the Golden Nugget (and most Vegas chapels) do not provide photography coverage before and after the wedding, Dani hired me to shoot the getting ready and couples photoshoot before and after the wedding. We got some awesome shots! I love the Downtown Vegas vibe I captured in these photos.
One surprise for me shooting in this area is the incredible lighting inside Neonopolis mall area. The shot of Chase kissing Dani’s hand was shot five feet from the Toy Shack! I’ve been traveling around Colorado the last week and, of course, snapping pics along the way. I love shooting an event at a new location and trying to tell the story of the event in a creative way through my images. This is my favorite type of photography!
These pictures were taken at the Royal Gorge Bridge outside of Cañon City, Colorado. The bridge was once the tallest suspension bridges in the world but I think it’s the most awe-inspiring! The view of the gorge and the surrounding Rocky Mountains was pretty cool. I’ve got to get back at sunset or snow and shoot this agical place again! Chris
